Neemrana Steel Service Center India (“NSSI”), a group company of Nippon Steel Trading Corporation (“NST”) engaged in steel sheet processing based in the Indian state of Rajasthan, just established its second factory in Sri City (“Factory No. 2”) in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The opening ceremony was held on September 27, attended by Mr. TAGA Masayuki, Consul-General of Japan in Chennai, as well as many others, including representatives from government offices in India and Japan and our business customers. Representing NST, President Shinichi Nakamura gave a speech of thanks.

〇 Purpose of Establishment

The purpose of Factory No. 2 is to provide steel processed products for manufacturers in the Chennai district, especially Sri City, by leveraging the expertise and experience NSSI has acquired from its 11 years of operation in India, thereby supporting local production activity.
The new factory has steel slitting/leveling and pressing capabilities as well as advanced systems for product supply and quality control to accurately meet customer needs. It is thus committed to contributing to reduction of manufacturing costs and delivery time and to building a resilient, high value-added supply chain.

〇 Next Steps

NST is working to enhance its competitiveness in India, where rapid economic development and growing demands for steel are likely. To this end, NST is scaling up its processing facilities and sales networks, and diversifying its suppliers to become a local "integral member," thereby promoting local production for local consumption.

Going forward, NST will forge ahead with “capturing new demand” and “global strategy aimed at deepening and expanding overseas businesses” described in the growth strategy of the Medium- to Long-Term Management Plan, thereby targeting further enhancement of its corporate value.
