Nippon Steel Trading Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “our Company”) held its “Children’s Workplace Tour” event at its Osaka Branch on Tuesday, July 28, and at its Tokyo Headquarters on Friday, August 7. Over the two days, a total of 37 children of employees and 27 employees, participated in the event.

The event was held to give children the opportunity to visit the workplace where their parents work and learn about our Company’s business and office atmosphere in an enjoyable way. For employees, it also served as a valuable opportunity to introduce their work to their families. By deepening understanding of childcare throughout the workplace, our Company aims to create a more comfortable working environment for employees.

The day began with “Introducing Dad & Mom’s Job,” in which employees introduced what they do at our Company to the children. The children then visited their parents’ workplaces with custom-made original business cards prepared especially for the event. Through greetings and exchanging business cards with employees, they experienced communication in the office.

The children also joined online meetings with our Company’s overseas offices, where they learned about the work of expatriate employees and local cultures. Through conversations via the screen, they gained a closer sense of our Company’s global business activities.

Other activities included a quiz competition about our Company, as well as visits to the President’s Office and the General Manager’s Office at the Osaka Branch. During the visit to the President’s Office, the children asked candid questions such as, “What does the President do?” and “What is the most difficult part of running a company?” Commemorative photos were also taken with the President and the General Manager.

At lunchtime, parents and children enjoyed meals made with ingredients handled by our Company, which also provided an opportunity for employees to deepen their interaction with one another.

Throughout the day, the workplace was filled with children’s smiles and cheerful voices. Participating employees commented, “It was a great opportunity for my child to see my workplace,” and “I felt more reassured to work here after introducing my family to my colleagues.”

Our Company will continue to promote initiatives that value the connection between families and the workplace, while striving to create an environment where each employee can work with energy and enthusiasm.
