Nippon Steel Trading Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "our company") established Green Biotechnology Solutions Pty. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “GBS”) in January 2026 in Emerald, Queensland, Australia, as a joint venture with Energreen Nutrition Australia Pty. Ltd., a company with extensive expertise in cultivating pongamia. On February 24, GBS held a commemorative ceremony for its establishment, followed by a groundbreaking event for the launch of tree planting. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Queensland Treasurer and local community representatives.

Through GBS, our company will promote a sustainable biofuel and bio‑resource business. The project involves commencing commercial plantation of pongamia, a non‑edible oilseed tree, in Australia, with the aim of building a reliable production and supply system for biofuel feedstock. The project will also contribute to local job creation and economic development, while supporting the Nippon Steel Trading Group’s efforts to reduce environmental impact and achieve key long‑term targets such as carbon neutrality by 2050.

This initiative has been made possible through our company’s long‑standing partnership with Queensland, as well as the support and cooperation of local governments and the Queensland Government. Our company will continue to work closely with stakeholders to contribute to the further development of both Japan and Australia and to the realization of a sustainable society.
